The Elysian Whisky Bar 3rd Anniversary Tasting !!!
We are turning 3 !!! They say time flies when you are having fun, and that is absolutely true, the past 3 years have gone by so quickly. So come celebrate with us in a fun tasting of the Flora & Fauna range.
The Flora & Fauna range was originally created in the early 1990's by United Distillers Vintners (what would later become Diageo). Originally this range did not have a name, and it was not until the famous whisky writer, the late Michael Jackson, nicknamed it the "Flora and Fauna" series due to the label, did the name stick. The whole series consists of 26 distillery expressions, but they were not released at the same time, and many have now been discontinued. Some of these distilleries have actually been sold to other companies, and some distilleries have actually closed since, making these malts even more precious. The Flora and Fauna series was released at a time when single malts were about to become big, and highlighted lesser known distilleries, a lot of them, workhorses of Diageo. This gave single malt fans and employees a chance to try these awesome malts.
We are privileged to have whisky expert, Mr. Nick Edwards from Diageo, to present these whiskies to us. This will be a really fun and never to be repeated tasting, so jump on it and don't miss out !!!

That Boutique-y Whisky Tasting with Asia-Pacific Manager Simon McGoram
Join us in our inaugural tasting of That Boutique-y Whisky brand. The brand has been around for a number of years, but has mainly focused in the UK. They were launched by UK-based spirits producer and retailer, Master of Malt, and they bottle single malts, single grains, bourbons, gins, rums, and they also produce blended malts and blends. These whiskies are usually adorned by cultish, novel-style, quirky labels that sometimes feature prominent figures from the whisky industry. They are often filled with in-house jokes and terrible puns.
When they first started, the whiskies did not come with any age statements. But from 2016 onwards, all single malts now have the age statements, due to the interest of whisky fans, and also part of supporting the campaign of Scotch whisky transparency that John Glaser of Compass Box launched earlier that year.
We are privileged to have the Asia Pacific Sales Manager, Simon McGoram to talk us through this tasting. So come join us and listen to the fun stories behind the labels and taste some delicious whiskies! And there might be a little special special at the end ...sshhhh

Blackadder & Firkin Whisky Co Tasting with Graham Wright
A brief history on the brands
Blackadder International is an industry veteran, having started in 1995 by Robin Tucek and John Lamond, and was named after historic Scottish figure, Bishop John Blackadder. Blackadder has a few labels in their range, but the most popular one is probably their Raw Cask series, where the lack of filtration leaves cask sediments at the bottom of each bottle.
Another gentleman that you should know is Mr Mike Collings. Mike started out from humble beginnings in the wine trade, to Brand Manager of Glenfarclas, and later went on to being responsible for the creation and launch of some of Diageo/United Distillers most iconic Single Malts & Blends, including the infamous Johnnie Walker Blue Label. He later went on to start his own Independent bottling label as well, called Spencer Collings. These days, Mike resides in South Australia with his wife, and he happens to be good mates of Graham. So we can be sure to hear some interesting stories from Graham.
So, what happens when these two industry legends get together to do something crazy? The answer is: The Firkin Whisky Co.
Mike Collings (Spencer Collings) and Robin Tucek (Blackadder International) are those Firkin industry legends, and they are the chaps who can get hold of some pretty extraordinary spirits and then mature them in some pretty amazing casks.

Dark Valley Whisky Tasting with Managing Director Alex Moores
Join us for our very first tasting of Dark Valley Whisky! Dark Valley was founded by a gentleman called Alex Moores, and it all began with his love for whiskies. In early 2014, the Tasmanian whisky scene was picking up momentum on the world stage, but no independent bottler was bottling Tasmanian whiskies the way they do Scottish and other world whiskies. This was also mainly due to distilleries trying to meet the sudden increase in demand and having enough for their own bottling, thus they could not supply the independent bottlers with casks. Knowing that production had increased in most distilleries, and there will be an opportunity to buy some spirit from these distilleries, Alex decided to start Dark Valley, an Independent Bottling company, and the company had one mission - to showcase Tasmania's best whiskies, one cask at a time!
So come join us and listen to Alex as he tells his stories. Taste some of the whiskies he has bottled, see what he has learned on his journey so far, and see what his plans are moving forward.
On tasting :
1) Dark Valley Sailor's Sloop (Lark Distillery spirit, ex-bourbon cask, 31 bottles only at 62.6%)

Amrut Tasting with Regional Brand Ambassador Mr. Prasad Ganga
We are absolutely delighted to present to you an exciting tasting of Indian Single Malts from the Amrut Distillery. Amrut is one of 3 single malt brands to come out of India, and they have been winning many awards in recent years. The brand has definitely helped put India on the distilling map, and now has a cult following. Join us and listen to Mr. Prasad Ganga tell us more about the long history of this company, and come try 6 expressions from this amazing distillery.
Amrut Distilleries Private Limited was established in 1948 and was founded by the late Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, or J.N.R. as he is fondly called to this day. Under his leadership, Amrut grew to become the leading supplier of "Indian Made Liquor" (IML). After the untimely demise of J.N.R in 1976, the business was taken over by his son Shri Neelakanta Rao, which brought Amrut to become a multi-national brand, recognised for its superlative quality and transparent practices in the IML Industry. In the 1960's Amrut starts to venture into rum distillation, followed by distillation of brandies in the 70's. And finally Amrut also began to venture into the distillation of malts in the 1980's. But it was not only until 2004 when Amrut Single Malt was launched. The brand is now in over 44 countries across the world.

The Ultimate GlenDronach Tasting with Seamus Carroll & Linus Schaxmann
In collaboration with Brown-Forman Australia & the lads at The Whisky List, we have put together a very special tasting for you. It will also be the launch and inaugural tasting with a very special bottling of a Single Cask GlenDronach that The Whisky List has done. More about this cask below:
The Whisky List is excited to announce the launch of The GlenDronach 1993 Single Cask Bottling Cask #392, a luxurious and rare Australian-exclusive Single Malt Scotch Whisky, aged 26 years in a first-fill ex-Oloroso Sherry cask, hand-selected by GlenDronach Master Blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie and consisting of only 659 bottles at 51.0% ABV.
The official launch date for The GlenDronach 1993 Single Cask #329 is Tuesday, 30th July, 2019.
Each year, The GlenDronach Master Blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie specially selects a handful of individual casks from the warehouses at The GlenDronach Distillery, to be released as a GlenDronach Cask Bottling. Each of these extremely limited releases is bottled from a single cask which displays only the most remarkable characteristics, the single malt whisky contained within having developed exceptionally during their long maturation process.
From this exclusive group of casks, The GlenDronach 1993 Cask #392 was singled out by Dr. Barrie as an outstanding, exceptional cask, and amazingly, one of the final casks to be released from one of the greatest eras of the distillery, the early months of 1993. It displays exceptional qualities sought after by whisky drinkers and collectors alike, perfectly balancing the characteristics of the distillery with the flavours imparted by the cask.
With the help of the amazing team at The GlenDronach distillery, this Cask #392 is being released entirely for Australia by The Whisky List. It was distilled on the 12th of Feb 1993, has been aged for over 26 years in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Cask, was bottled in May of 2019 at 51.0% ABV and consists of only 659 bottles.
Dr Barrie’s tasting notes include an appearance of Hazelnut in colour, a nose of strawberry preserve, burnt orange zest, sandalwood and honeycomb and a palate consisting of red liquorice orange zest, Oloroso, pepped apple and bramble. The finish is long, warming, and lingering. The mouth is left to cope with wave after wave of warming richness with layers of sweetness and spice to this whisky. Give this whisky time to open up and you will see it transform while you taste.
Chris Ross, Co-founder at The Whisky List explained “being a small market and far away from the US and the UK, Australia often is left to last - or just completely left out - of selecting any single cask bottlings from distilleries, forcing whisky drinkers and collectors in Australia to purchase these kinds of releases from overseas websites and auction houses. This is why we’ve partnered with Brown-Forman in selecting this delicious cask from GlenDronach.”
In selecting this cask, Chris noted “We wanted to select a remarkable whisky, something just for Australia and something to help the rest of the world sit up and take notice of the whisky scene here. And not something other markets had passed up, but rather a release that would be sought after across Australia and even by whisky drinkers around the world. Our criteria was simple, it had to taste as good as we would expect a 26yo GlenDronach from early 1993 - one of the truly great vintages of the distillery - to be; rich and flavourful, but mature, refined and balanced. And of course it needed to have a fantastic, long finish. It had to truly demonstrate the character of this amazing distillery. And with the help of our friends at GlenDronach, we’ve scored for Australia a cask that is everything we wanted it to be.”
The story of cask #392 is just as unique as its contents. We worked closely with the distillery team and The GlenDronach master blender Dr Rachel Barrie to source the best casks for selection from this infamous 1993 vintage.
Chris also notes “Whilst we’re aware of numerous other luxury casks coming to Australia, to the best of our knowledge, this is the most valuable Scotch whisky cask ever imported into Australia, being worth close to $500,000. It's a significant investment for the Australian market, even for a whisky of this calibre and we hope Aussie whisky drinkers will savour every last drop.”

World Whisky Day Tasting - Exploring LMDW Artist Collective #2
Join us on World Whisky Day for an exciting tasting of the newly launched Artist Collective #2 range by renowned bottler La Maison du Whisky (LMDW) in France. Presenting to us will be Jose of Casa de Vinos & a special guest all the way from La Maison du Whisky in Singapore, Joseph Seah. Joseph is the bar manager of LMDW, and is a fiend of all things out of a charred oak barrel. So come join us for a great tasting, and listen to Joseph as he tells a bit more about LMDW and the things they look for in their cask selections.
And for those not familiar with La Maison du Whisky, they are retailers and independent bottlers that have been around for more than 60 years. Founded in 1956 by Georges Bénitah, La Maison du Whisky has established itself as one of the largest French specialists in the importing and distribution of rare whiskies.
Since it was first established, La Maison du Whisky has never stopped its quest to explore every aspect of the world of whisky. It is a passionate family business built on a foundation of high standards, curiosity and daring. It is with this same insatiability that La Maison du Whisky now explores the world of fine spirits and mixology.
A genuine pioneer, Georges Bénitah was, in the 1970s, one of the first to import Scottish malts to France. As for Thierry Bénitah, he is an expert in unearthing rare products and largely contributed to the recognition of Japanese whiskies amongst enthusiasts. And he is about to introduce these same enthusiasts to fine spirits such as rum, cognac and tequila, as well as mixology, whose popularity is intimately linked. All of which proves that La Maison du Whisky knows no boundaries and delights in pushing limits.

Signatory Vintage 30th Anniversary Batch 2 Tasting
Some of you would have joined us for the 1st part of this tasting earlier in the year. This is the second batch of the "Signatory Vintage 30th Anniversary Tasting" brought to you in collaboration with The Whisky Company.
Signatory Vintage was established in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, and are based near Pitlochry, in Perthshire, Scotland. The name "Signatory" was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. They follow a strict bottling regiment and have an amazing portfolio of whiskies bottled by them. We personally find Signatory whiskies to have great value, and 99.9% of the Signatory whiskies that we have tried have been nothing less than amazing.
1) Linkwood 1990 27yo, 50.3% RRP $799
2) Blair Athol 1988 30yo, 54.7% RRP $899

This is a tasting not to be missed! Why, you ask?

2) You get to try a Bunnahabhain 50yo !!! The oldest official release of Bunnahabhain was only 46yo. But that aside, have you tried a 50yo whisky before?

Cadenhead's & Springbank Tasting with Graham Wright of The Odd Whisky Coy
Join us in a tasting of Springbank and Cadenhead's, Scotland's Oldest Independent Bottler. The tasting will be presented by Graham Wright of The Odd Whisky Coy, distributor of Cadenhead's in Australia.
A brief history on Cadenhead's & Springbank
Independent whisky and rum bottler, Cadenhead's was established in 1842 (177 years ago) at 47 Netherkirkgate, Aberdeen, by a gentleman by the name of George Duncan. A decade later, he invited his brother-in-law William Cadenhead to join him. Duncan passed away in 1858, and Cadenhead took over the business and changed the company name to his own. The company continued to grow over the years, as they bottled more and more interesting whiskies, rums and also gin. In 1972, J & A Mitchell (who also owns Springbank) bought Cadenhead's, and after 130 years of trading at Netherkirkgate, the company moved to Campbeltown. Cadenhead's continues to bottle whiskies that are non chill-filtered and non-coloured today. In 2012, Mark Watt, who had been working for Duncan Taylor, joined the company, and his mission was to rewamp the portfolio of whiskies, and as a result, a number of new ranges were created.
Springbank Distillery is a distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, that was founded in 1828. The distillery is owned by J&A Mitchell, and has been since 1897. In its heyday, Campbeltown was the distilling capital of Scotland. Unfortunately things took a turn, and many distilleries started closing down. For the longest time, Springbank was one of only 2 distilleries that survived in the Campbeltown region. The only time Springbank mothballed was from 1979 - 1989. Since re-opening, Springbank has only gone from strength to strength, and is now one if the most sought after single malt whisky.
On tasting :
Cadenhead's Old Raj Caol Ila Whisky Cask Matured Gin, 55%
Cadenhead's Creations 2007 10yo "Light, Creamy, Smoky" Campbeltown Distilleries Blend, 60.5%

Bowmore Tasting with Brand Ambassador Dan Woolley
Join us for our second tasting of the year. This time we will be tasting through the Bowmore range, and the tasting will be presented by Dan Woolley, National Whisk(e)y Ambassador of The Exchange, distributors of Bowmore in Australia. Dan has been to Islay and Bowmore many a times. He breathes and lives for whisky, and has even got it tattooed onto his knuckles. He has also spent some time working at the Bowmore and Laphroaig distilleries. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, so come listen to him as he talks us through the history of the oldest distillery on Islay.
A brief history on Bowmore
The Bowmore distillery was establlished in 1779 by a local merchant, John P. Simson, and is the oldest of the distilleries on Islay. It has had a long and successful history with little interruption of production apart from during the World Wars, when the Air Ministry requisitioned Bowmore and used it as a Coastal Command operations centre and base for flying boats giving anti-submarine assistance to Atlantic shipping convoys. Through its lifetime, the distillery would change ownerships a few times before finally being acquired by Stanley P Morrison, forming Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd in 1963. In 1989, Japanese drinks giant, Suntory, buys a 35% stake in Morrison Bowmore. In 1994, Suntory bought over all of Morrison Bowmore and takes full control of Bowmore.
The distillery is one of a few distilleries in Scotland with its own floor maltings, with 30% of their malt requirements being produced in-house. The malts are peated to 25ppm. Bowmore is also well known for their Vault No. 1, where some of the warehouse walls are actually below sea level.

Signatory Vintage 30th Anniversary Tasting
Happy New Year everybody! We hope you have had an amazing holiday and managed to get some time to relax. To kick off the tastings for this year, we thought we should start with a bang! In collaboration with The Whisky Company, we present to you the "Signatory Vintage 30th Anniversary Tasting".
The whiskies that will be on tasting are:
1) Rare Ayrshire (Ladyburn) 1974 44yo, 53% (Closed Distillery) - RRP$4000
2) Glenlossie 1984 33yo, 56.7% - RRP$1250
3) Glenturret 1988 30yo, 52.4% - RRP$699

1) It was very difficult to obtain these bottlings. They were very sought after, and numbers were very limited.
2) The Rare Ayrshire 1974 scored 93 points on both Whiskyfun and Whiskybase
3) Rare Ayrshire is extremely RARE! (the distillery was only in operation for 9 short years)
3) We are trying whiskies from 2 closed distilleries
4)The youngest whisky is 30 years old !!!

Discover Kavalan - The Taiwanese Whisky Giant
Kavalan was established in 2005 in the town of Yanshan, in Yilan County, Taiwan. On the 11th of March 2006 at 3.30pm, the first spirit was produced. The distillery is owned by Taiwanese conglomerate, King Car Group, and the project was the brainchild of founder and entrepreneur Tien-Tsai Lee. Right from the get-go, they knew they needed expertise from Scotland, and the late Dr Jim Swan was hired to consult on the setup, production and also cask maturation strategy. Master Blender & Distiller Ian Chang was trained by Dr Jim Swan, and they worked very closely to create the flavours they wanted for Kavalan.
After the expansion works at Kavalan completed in late 2017, they now have 10 pairs of copper pot stills, doubling their capacity from before the expansion, making them one of ten largest malt whisky distilleries in the world. Over the past few years, Kavalan whiskies have been scooping up top awards, including "World's Best Single Malt Whisky" in the prestigious World Whiskies Awards (WWA) for its Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique in 2015, and "World's Best Single Cask Single Malt Whisky" also in WWA for its Kavalan Solist Amontillado Sherry.
It is a well known-fact in the industry that Kavalan invests heavily in their casks, and flies around the world procuring the best casks from the best bourbon distilleries, sherry & port bodegas and wine producers. In this tasting, we will be looking at 4 different sherry matured Kavalans, and also the respective sherries that the casks used to hold. Presenting to us will be the importers of Kavalan to Australia, The Spirits Company.
On Tasting:
Kavalan Solist Fino matched with a Fino Sherry
Kavalan Solist Manzanilla matched with a Manzanilla Sherry

Experience The Art of Roku Gin
Join us for another fun session, as we discover and experience this new craft Japanese gin created by Suntory. The gin was first launched in Japan earlier this year, and has now made it into Australia.
A little fact that is not widely known, is that Suntory has been making gin for a long time. Their first gin called Hermes, was released in 1949. Roku gin was created by Mr Kazuyuki Torii (Suntory's Senior Specialist for Gin & Spirits). He did not want to make a new gin, but he wanted to add some Japanese touches to the classic styles of gin that are already widely enjoyed. So after lots of R&D and thought process, Mr. Torii finally decided on 6 unique Japanese botanicals to add to a classic style base, and the final product is this craft gin, ROKU (meaning 6 in Japanese, hence the name).
Kelvin was fortunate enough to be invited to check out Liquor Atelier (the distillery where Roku Gin is made) and managed to spend some time with Mr. Torii, earlier this year. And he can guarantee you that making this gin was not that easy, especially dealing with lots of seasonal botanicals.
So join us and learn more about what was involved in creating this unique Japanese craft gin. See how you can use this gin in cocktails and other mixed drinks, and see how we have paired the cocktails with some food too. We have gotten Mr. Ryo Kitahara (Assiette de Parti) to create 2 unique canapes to match our 2 Roku Gin cocktails.

The Ultimate Laphroaig Tasting with Dan Woolley
Join us in another amazing tasting of Laphroaig presented by Dan Woolley, National Whisk(e)y Ambassador of The Exchange, distributors of Laphroaig in Australia. Dan has been to Islay and Laphroaig many a times. He breathes and lives for whisky, and has even got it tattooed onto his knuckles. He has also spent some time working at the Laphroaig distillery, alongside distillery manager John Campbell. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, so come listen to him as he talks all things Laphroaig.
A brief history on Laphroaig
Laphroaig's history begins with the Johnston family. They started farming in a small bay on the southernmost tip of Islay around 1800. Soon after, messers Charles and Willie Doig were asked to do some 'work on a distillery' at Laphroaig. By 1815, Laphroaig's reputation had spread and the tax man was getting suspicious so they 'officially' established 'Johnston & Johnston' - the legend of Laphroaig had begun.
Until 1954, Laphroaig was owned by members of the Johnston family. In 1847, co-founder Donald Johnston died in dramatic circumstances - after falling into a scaulding kettle of burnt ale - and for the next decade Walter Graham, manager of neighbouring distillery Lagavulin, ran the company. Laphroaig returned to Johnston family hands in 1857 when Donald’s son Dugald gained ownership. Since 1954, the owners of Laphroaig have changed a few times, and it is now currently owned by Beam Suntory.
Laphroaig is a distillery whose malts are utterly distinctive and divisive. Laphroaig’s unique flavour comes in partly because of its vicinity to the coast and the high moss content of its peat, which is processed in the distillery’s own floor maltings. Laphroaig till this day still runs its own maltings, and produces about 20% of its total requirements. The current manager of Laphroaig, John Campbell, is the first Ileach (Islay born and bred) in the history of the distillery to run the place. He started there in 1994, and became the manager in 2006. Laphroaig now sits at the 7th place among the Top 10 best selling single malts, and is the only peated malt to be in the Top 10.

Father's Day Japanese Whisky Tasting - "Mars Distillery Retrospective Tasting"
They say "man are from Mars", and therefore to celebrate Father's Day this year, we thought we might do a tasting from none other than ... you guessed it, the Mars Distillery in Japan. There are a lot of hype surrounding other bigger distillery names in Japan, but quietly in the background, Mars Distillery has been winning accolades. Mars Distillery is owned by the shochu makers from the south of Japan, in Kagoshima, called Hombo Shuzo. Hombo Shuzo was established in the year 1872. Hombo's whisky history started in 1949, when they got their whisky distilling licence. For the first 10 years though, they "made" whisky the same way everyone else did at the time, i.e. by blending various alcohol and spirits, colourings and flavourings, to make a liquid that resembled a whisky. In 1960, they got serious and wanted to make a proper malt whisky, and that's when they built their very first distillery, called Yamanashi Distillery. Over the next few decades, you will see Hombo Shuzo go through a rollercoaster ride, as the whisky industry in Japan goes though a few major turning points, and Hombo Shuzo were opening and closing a few malt whisky distilleries, such as the Kagoshima Distillery and Shinshu Distillery. As Japanese whiskies became popular again after 2010, Hombo Shuzo restarted production of whiskies, and in 2016, opened yet another distillery called Tsunuki Distillery. Now at the forefront of product development and whisky production, Hombo Shuzo has Mr. Koki Takehira (Shinshu Distillery) and Mr. Tatsuro Kusano (Tsunuki Distillery); and together, they are creating new pages in the Hombo Shuzo and Mars Whisky history book.
So join us in this tasting as we talk you through the long and exciting past of the Hombo Shuzo company and its Mars distilleries. We will be covering fun facts about Mr. Kiichiro Iwai, the first master distiller at Mars, and also a very instrumental person in the Japanese whisky industry. We will be tasting whiskies from the Mars Shinshu distillery, with some of them being aged in various locations around Japan; some of their peated whiskies; and to end things, we will be tasting a Mars 30yo, distilled in the 2nd year of production of the Mars Shinshu distillery, and the oldest malt whisky bottled by the company.
Those who know, know, how difficult it is to obtain these bottles. So don't miss out, treat yourselves, your father or your husband, to a very tasty and rare gift this Father's Day.

Essence of Suntory Tasting with Dan Woolley
With all the hype and demand for Japanese whiskies these days, it is almost impossible to find, let alone purchase any rare or limited releases of Japanese whiskies. Earlier this year, on the 27th of February to be exact, Suntory released 3 very unique whiskies that were only available to the bars in Japan. These were very experimental bottlings, one from each of their distilleries. A rye type whisky from the Hakushu Distillery (the first of its kind released by Hakushu), a long-aged grain whisky with a red wine finish from the Chita Grain Distillery, and a peated Yamazaki malt (not commonly produced at Yamazaki).
After searching high and low, we have managed to secure possibly the only set of these whiskies in the country. This set now sells for USD$1800 on some websites. But we do not like flipping bottles, and therefore it would only be fair for us to crack them open and share them with you.
For this occasion we have also invited whisky ambassador for Beam Suntory Australia, Dan Woolley, to come share his passion and knowledge about the brand and the company with us.
In this tasting, we will be featuring the Essence of Suntory range, but we have also included a few other special bottlings by the Yamazaki and Hakushu Distilleries.
Essence of Suntory Tasting:
Yamazaki Distillery Exclusive Bottling, 40%
Hakushu Distillery Exclusive Bottling, 43%
Essence of Suntory Chita Distillery Grain 2001/2018 4 Years Wine Cask Finish, 49%

Tasting with Jack Teeling of Teeling Whiskey
Whiskey making and entrepreneurship has been in the Teeling genes as far back as 1782, when Walter Teeling set up a small craft distillery on Marrowbone Lane, Dublin 8. In 1987, John Teeling (father to Jack and Stephen), also established a distillery called Cooley Distillery, which was located in County Louth. This distillery was later sold to Beam Suntory in December 2011.
The following year, in 2012, Jack and Stephen Teeling, the latest generation of whiskey makers, set up the Teeling Whiskey Company, right back in the heart of the Liberties district of Dublin city. In March 2015 they opened the Teeling Whiskey Distillery the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years, and just a stone’s throw from their ancestral distillery, right in the heart of the Golden Triangle, the historic distilling district of the city.
We are extremely fortunate to be able to host Jack Teeling in a very special tasting next week, on his one night in Melbourne.
Details of what is on tasting is yet to be confirmed, but we will be trying 3 whiskeys from the Teeling core range (possibly including a taste of the new Teeling Revival), and 2 or 3 very special whiskeys that Jack will be hand-carrying with him from Ireland.
So come join us in welcoming Jack Teeling, taste some amazing whiskeys, and hear more about his family's long love affair with Irish Whiskey and how they revived the whiskey industry in Dublin.

Meet Master Distiller Alan Winchester of The Glenlivet for the Launch of Glenlivet Code
Join us in the launch event of the brand new The Glenlivet Code with Master Distiller Alan Winchester. The Glenlivet Code is a limited edition expression which invites Glenlivet fans to "crack open the ultimate whisky code". Inspired by famous British codebreakers, this release is designed to challenge consumers knowledge and understanding of single malt whisky. Glenlivet Code has no cask information or tasting notes. However, consumers can scan the back of the carton using the Shazam app, which will open up a virtual underground room. They will then see a hologram of Master Distiller Alan Winchester, who will challenge them to decode the taste of the liquid by selecting four aromas from the nose and four from the palate out of thousands of possible combinations. After decoding the flavours, participants will be given a score which they can post on social media using the hashtag #TheGlenlivetCode to see how they rank among their peers. The official tasting notes will not be released until the end of the year, to give single malt enthusiasts to explore and enjoy the liquid themselves.
In this tasting, we will be talking to the man himself, Master Distiller Alan Winchester who created the whisky. He will be taking us through this new expression and several other whiskies from The Glenlivet's core range. Needless to say, we are absolutely stoked to be hosting him.

Join us in our very first rum tasting with the Venezuelan rum brand - Diplomatico. In this tasting we will be looking at their newly launched "Distillery Collection" as well as their other core releases. The Distillery Collection was officially launched last October at Bar Convent Berlin. It showcases Diplomatico’s diverse distillation processes. Over the years, Diplomatico has developed a unique style of merging different distillation methods to produce a wide range of complex distillates. The Distillery Collection highlights these distillation systems with two new expressions, a Single Batch Kettle rum and a Single Barbet Column rum.
A variety of distillates, with their distinctive aromas and taste profiles, characterizes Diplomatico rums and allows the Maestros Roneros to create one-of-a-kind blends. The Distillery Collection, on the other hand, offers rum aficionados the opportunity to discover these single distillates in their purest form, featuring each rum’s individual personality.
Talking us through the long history of Diplomatico and its meticulous rum making processes will be Sai Charan (Diplomatico Brand Ambassador & 2015 Diplomatico World Tournament Winner) & Joey Tai of Baranow's Emporium. Their love for the spirit and their knowledge is truly admirable and contagious.

Laphroaig Tasting with Brand Ambassador Dan Woolley
LAPHROAIG TASTING WITH BRAND AMBASSADOR DAN WOOLLEY
Join us in a tasting of some pretty special Laphroaigs. The tasting will be presented by Dan Woolley, National Whisk(e)y Ambassador of The Exchange, distributors of Laphroaig in Australia. Dan has been to Islay and Scotland many a times. Whisky pretty much flows in his blood (quite literally), and even has got it tattooed onto his knuckles.

Gordon and Macphail Tasting with Ian McKinlay
Join us in our first whisky tasting of the year, as we go through the Gordon and Macphail range. The tasting will be hosted by importer, Ian McKinlay of Alba Whisky. Ian will be talking us through the history of the Gordon and Macphail brand (one of Scotland's oldest bottlers) and how they became the iconic brand they are now.
Gordon and Macphail started in 1895, when James Gordon and John Alexander Macphail established a grocery and wine merchant business in South Street, Elgin. Within a year of establishment, John Urquhart joins the company. Urquhart became a senior business partner in 1915 and began to develop the firm's whisky brokering business, and bottling single malts under licence for several famous distilleries, including The Glenlivet. It was always the ambition of John Urquhart and the subsequent generations of the Urquhart family to own and manage its own distillery. This dream came true in 1993 when they purchased Benromach in Forres from United Distillers.
Today, Gordon and Macphail bottles whiskies across several ranges, with the most well-known being the Connoiseur's Choice labels.Other labels include The Private Collection, Cask Strength, Rare Old, The Macphail's Collection, and the most exclusive of them all, the Generations label. Gordon and Mapchail has also bottled the oldest whiskies in the world under the Generations label, a 70yo Mortlach (bottled in 2010) and a 70yo Glenlivet (bottled in 2011).

Cadenhead's Tasting With Graham Wright
Join us in a tasting of bottlings done by Cadenhead's, Scotland's Oldest Independent Bottler. The tasting will be presented by Graham Wright of The Odd Whisky Coy, distributor of Cadenhead's in Australia.
A brief history on Cadenhead's
Independent whisky and rum bottler, Cadenhead's was established in 1842 (175 years ago) at 47 Netherkirkgate, Aberdeen, by a gentleman by the name of George Duncan.
